HEALTHPOINT to Launch OASIS® in Italy

HEALTHPOINT (Fort Worth, Tex) has signed an agreement with Italy-based HT Group to market OASIS® Wound Matrix and OASIS® Burn Matrix.
OASIS is a natural, extracellular matrix—a biomaterial used to manage a variety of wounds by providing an environment that allows a patient’s body to rebuild and repair damaged tissue.
OASIS can be used in the management of partial- and full-thickness wounds, such as pressure, venous, and chronic vascular ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical and trauma wounds, second-degree burns, abrasions, and autograft donor sites.
The agreement grants HT Group distribution rights for OASIS products in Italy. Discussions for marketing of other HEALTHPOINT products are currently in progress.
HT Group promotes and markets surgical and dermatological products and equipment. The company, which offers an integrated approach to healthcare marketing and biotechnologies, consists of a marketing division devoted to training and educating healthcare professionals, a sales division designed to serve both the public and private sectors, and a biotech division that provides support and advice to leading international manufacturers of biotechnological and biomedical products.
OASIS Burn Matrix, a product that provides a supportive environment in the management of second-degree and superficial burns, was designed specifically for burn patients. The thickness of the OASIS Burn Matrix allows application for an extended time. This decreases the frequency of dressing changes, which are often exceptionally painful for burn patients.

Ivivi Technologies Introduces the Enhanced SofPulse™

Ivivi Technologies (Northvale, NJ) announces the launch of the next generation SofPulse™ device. The enhanced SofPulse is now available to healthcare facilities and professionals for use on chronic wounds and is approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Two significant improvements enhance the SofPulse—the applicators are highly lightweight, ergonomic, and conform to the body for better delivery, and the enhanced SofPulse is built around a lower-power generator, virtually eliminating interference with other bedside medical equipment. The SofPulse, which is cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is a noninvasive pulsed electromagnetic therapy (PEMF) device that delivers therapy through bandages, dressings, casts, and clothing, with virtually no labor or changes in current treatment protocols.
The applicator coil is implantable-grade silicon and is disposable on a per-patient basis. This conformable coil is available in different sizes ranging from 6 to 10 inches in diameter to accommodate the size of the targeted area.

Derma Sciences Adds 3-N-1 Cleansing Foam to Family of Products

Derma Sciences (Princeton, NJ), a manufacturer and full-line supplier of wound and skin care products, announces the addition of Dermagran® 3-N-1 Cleansing Foam to the Dermagran® family of products. The new product is a perineal cleanser, body wash, and shampoo now available in a no-rinse formulation. The cleansing foam contains zinc-nutrient technology, which has been shown to promote healthy skin and lower infection rates.

A primary use for the foam is to clean skin after incontinent episodes, which can leave the skin at a greater risk for breakdown due to perineal dermatitis or pressure ulcers. The zinc-nutrient formulation will give clinicians another useful tool to help prevent these types of skin breakdown issues.

Cybernet Medical Debuts Additional Wound Care Capabilities for Medstar™

Cybernet Medical (Ann Arbor, Mich), a developer of biometric monitoring technology and medical devices for outpatient care, announces that its MedStar™ Disease Management Data        Collection System now offers enhanced Internet video capabilities and web-based management tools to improve the monitoring of homebound chronic disease patients with wound care needs.
The MedStar system, used to remotely collect and transmit a patient’s physiological data, supports the high-resolution camera output that is especially beneficial in wound care management programs. MedStar allows chronic disease patients, including those in remote rural areas, to receive regular contact with a healthcare provider, a critical factor in the successful treatment of some wounds and ulcers.
The MedStar device collects data directly from measurement tools, such as blood pressure cuffs and glucose monitors, and transmits the information to a collection server over a standard telephone line. The compatible videophones can also transmit reliable, high-quality images over regular phone lines or the Internet, an important consideration given the telecommunications infrastructure in some rural areas.
MedStar now offers web-based wound care management tools for healthcare providers, such as a measurement device that visually assesses the healing process via successive digital images. Used in conjunction with other patient data, these tools help provide a more complete picture of a patient’s recovery process.
Cybernet Medical is focused on changing the way chronic care patients are monitored and diagnosed.
