Kendall Introduces New Foam Dressings

Kendall (Mansfield, Mass) introduces a new generation of dressings—CURITY™ AMD™ Packing Strips and COPA™ Ultra-Soft Foam Dressings. These dressings are the latest extension of the company’s family of dressings that deliver both clinical and financial benefits.
The application of a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), makes the packing strips 7,000 times more effective than iodoform but with a lower cytotoxic profile. The packing strips are proven to be simple to use and provide powerful protection against a host of organisms without negatively affecting epithelization. The single-use package promotes sterile technique and reduces preparation time.
The foam dressings are designed to deliver clinical efficiency and patient comfort. The dressings are structured with micropores that decrease the chance of tissue migration into the dressings. The product’s fluid capacity decreases dressing change frequency and helps lower costs. The suppleness of the dressings provides immediate and lasting patient comfort and excellent conformability for hard-to-dress areas. The dressings are available in a variety of versions and sizes.

SilverSeal® Wound Care Products Receive FDA Approval

Noble Biomaterials (Scranton, Pa) has received 7 US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approvals for the company’s SilverSeal® wound care medical products. The FDA-approved items include wound contact dressing, burn contact dressing, hydrogel, hydrocolloid, cast and orthopedic components, and bandages.
The medical community and clinical tests have all given positive reviews to the approved goods, and the company has submitted several of the products to be tested against the avian flu pandemic. X-STATIC®, a component of the aforementioned products, is effective in killing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
