Smith & Nephew ACTICOAT Site Dressing Now Available

Smith & Nephew Wound Management (Largo, Fla) introduces ACTICOAT Site™, a silver-coated antimicrobial barrier dressing. The dressing is specifically designed to help manage infection risks around IV lines, central venous catheters, and external fixation sites.
ACTICOAT Site is formulated with SILCRYST™ nanocrystalline (Ag+, Ag) silver technology, which is the force behind its long lasting bactericidal properties. The dressing provides bactericidal activity against multiple strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other pathogens.

Medela Launches New Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System

Medela, Inc. (McHenry, Ill) launched the Invia® Healing System, a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) system used to safely and effectively heal chronic and acute wounds. The new system’s infection-preventing dual mechanism includes antimicrobial properties and active drainage that control infection.
The FDA-cleared system includes the Medela Vario 18 AC/DC c/i aspirator pump, which applies gentle negative pressure to the wound and an advanced wound dressing kit that controls infection and promotes healing of diabetic, neuropathic, pressure, chronic, acute, and dehisced wounds.
