Smith & Nephew Introduces BIOSTEP™ Collagen Matrix Dressings

Smith & Nephew Wound Management (Largo, Fla) introduced new BIOSTEP and BIOSTEP Ag Collagen Matrix Dressings at the 22nd Annual Clinical Symposium on Advances in Skin and Wound Care.
BIOSTEP represents the next generation of collagen dressing and is an important entry into a rapidly growing category. Its unique dual-action approach to targets and deactivates excess MMPs (matrix metalloproteases)— the enzymes that can break down collagen and impede healing— and helps overcome barriers to healing while maintaining an optimal wound environment.
BIOSTEP features a 6-day wear time, nearly double the wear time of the other collagen dressings, and it is more absorbent. BIOSTEP Ag combines anti-MMP activity with the antimicrobial activity of silver to help minimize infection recurrence when infection risk factors are present.
