Honeymark International Wound Care Product Utilizes Manuka Honey

Honeymark International (Eastport, NY) has developed a new wound care product utilizing active Manuka honey, a substance that has demonstrated effectiveness against the mutating bacterium methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).
Honeymark’s First Aid Antiseptic Lotion uses the antibacterial properties from Manuka honey against bacterial contamination such as MRSA and skin infections in wounds and burns. Manuka honey’s antibacterial activity comes from a hydrogen peroxide formed by its enzyme glucose oxidase and its unique antibacterial agent. The honey’s viscosity provides a protective barrier on wound surfaces, thus preventing infections.
