MedEfficiency Launches Assurance Boot

MedEfficiency Inc (Westminster, Colo) released a new Assurance Boot designed for use with its TCC-EZ total contact cast system. The Assurance Boot features a combination locking top strap and a secured inside cast that facilitates compliance with a patient’s offloading treatment regimen.
The TCC-EZ System uses a patented fishnet mesh cast technology that constructs a 1-layer cast and is protected by an outer shell. The shell provides support and stability for the patient suffering with a diabetic foot ulcer. Both the Assurance Boot and TCC-EZ system assist in tissue healing without it being disturbed or traumatized by repetitive injury or shear forces.

Patient Survey Reports Safetac® Adhesive Technology Is the Preferred Dressing Regimen
Results from a large multi-national survey show that the use of dressings with Safetac® soft silicone adhesive technology reduced pain at dressing changes when compared to advanced dressings with traditional adhesives.
The Pain on Removal Cases survey involved more than 3,000 patients with a variety of wounds from 20 countries, and more than 90% of the patients preferred the dressings that contained Safetac technology to the previous dressing regimen.
Safetac is a patented soft silicone adhesive technology designed for wound dressings. The soft silicone layer adheres gently to the skin and can be removed easily without causing trauma to the wound or the surrounding skin, which leads to an undisturbed wound healing process—minimizing pain for the patient.

Elta® SilverGel Receives Reimbursement Code

Elta® SilverGel, a product of Swiss-American Products Inc (Carrollton, Tex), received a reimbursement code from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The product is now eligible for reimbursement under Part B Medicare & Medicaid guidelines when billed using the appropriate Medicare HCPCS code, A6248, for hydrogel dressing, wound filler, and gel per fluid ounce.
Elta Silvergel is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial wound gel that can be applied directly to the wound bed, forming a clear coating that allows healthcare providers to view the wound without complication. The gel has a sustained silver ion release for 3 or more days and can be used on pressure ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, chronic wounds, lacerations or abrasions, and many other wounds.
